Black Sail Hostel
Originally a shepherd's bothy, remote and isolated at the head of Ennerdale. Cosy atmosphere and good food, with basic facilities (no electricity, no heating in the bedrooms). From here climb Great Gable, Pillar, Red Pike, Steeple, Haycock ridge plus many more. On the Coast to Coast route.

Getting There
Nearest roads are the summit of Honister Pass or Gatesgarth in the Buttermere valley. From either of these points it is a 2 1/2m mountain walk to hostel. Alternatively, walk up the forest road in the Ennerdale Valley or take the mountain walk over Black Sail Pass from Wastwater.
